Mr JP Clay’s unoccupied stone cottage was broken into by enlarging one of the loop hopes at the back of the cottage and goods were taken. Clay with two other settlers lay in wait overnight in an attempt to capture those responsible. Due to their mismanagement, the thief escaped. Newmulta and Yailgulta were subsequently identified and punished.

During Murpalta’s (Moorpa’s) imprisonment in Adelaide in 1842 and 1843, his wife Murlainolo partnered with Kambulta. On Murpaltla’s return, Murlianolo resumed her relationship with Murpalta. Kambulta speared her during the night of 7 October. Murpalta informed the police of her death, seeking their assistance in bringing Kambalta to justice.
