Yailgulta and others take goods from Mr Clay’s unattended cottage and Clay, Hawson and White attempt to capture those responsible, 14 June 1845

Place: Murinyana, distant 4 or 5 miles from the Port Lincoln township
Mr JP Clay’s unoccupied stone cottage was broken into by enlarging one of the loop hopes at the back of the cottage and goods were taken. Clay with two other settlers lay in wait overnight in an attempt to capture those responsible. Due to their mismanagement, the thief escaped. Newmulta and Yailgulta were subsequently identified and punished.
