This is important for appreciating coordination of resistance over large areas. The Bunya Maps are one example. WA Journey Ways is another.
- Trove
- Trove has an excellent collection of digitised maps useful for research on Australian colonisation. Best results are from using advanced search to limit the search to maps within specific dates and regions, and setting 'access' to 'online'. Eg: Maps of NSW from 1830 to 1840.
- Pastoral Stations
- Digitally mapping every individual historical pastoral station would be an enormous task. This simple map at least provides access to some of the most useful and detailed online maps of pastoral stations for each state. Look for the 'linkback' which goes to the relevant map in Trove.
- Colonial Frontier Massacres, Australia, 1788 to 1930
- This map shows that violence occurred across the entire continent of Australia over time as regions were colonised. This helps understand the pattern of colonisation and violence across the continent, as well as being a research tool with details and sources on each massacre.
- Mapping Frontier Conflict in South East Queensland
- These maps show in great detail manouvres and regions of influence during wars and resistance in South East Queensland.
- Coniston Massacres
- This map of Coniston Massacres shows sites where people were killed on the 3 expeditions according to both historical sources and Indigenous knowledge. It shows the wide spread of the expeditions and a clear intent to eradicate people from the region.
- South Road War
- This map of early conflict in present day Victoria on the overland road south from Sydney to Naarm compares a variety of events: massacres, raids, retreats and establishment of 'police' bases (these police were primarily recruited from active military).
- Map of Stolen Generations Institutions
