John Tennant’s flocks speared and his servants threatened, May 1848

Place: Salt Creek Station, Port Lincoln district
On 16 May 1848, John Tennant wrote to the Government Resident at Port Lincoln informing him that his flocks had repeatedly been attacked by Aboriginal people who had also threatened to spear his servants. Lance Corporal Geherty was dispatched but unable to apprehend any offenders due to the thick scrub that skirted Tennant’s run.
