17 month old infant rumoured to have been abducted by Aboriginal people, December 1840

When a 17 month old child went missing, settlers in the settlement township deduced the child had been taken by Aboriginal people. The Rusch (aka Rush) family lived near a river and Mrs Rusch had left her young children in charge of the infant. Missionary Clamor Schürmann pointed out it was more likely the infant had drowned.
