Killing of Aboriginal man by Michael Flannigan on Bates' Station, 15 Auhust 1847

Place: Bates’ Station, Lake Hawdon run
After a report that the Aboriginal man ‘William’, assisted by others, had killed four head of cattle, the station owner’s overseer, Michael Flannigan, tracked the suspects to Lake Hawdon’. In an ensuing fight Flannigan the Aboriginal man, suffered sword wounds inflicted by Flannigan and subsequently died.
